Touhou ~ Dreams of a Sunflower (demo)
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Yuuka Kazami wanders into the dreams of Gensokyo residents past, present, and future and causes trouble.
A fanwork of Touhou Project, and remake/expansion of/sequel to the 2020 Touhou Pride Game Jam 2 game Dream of a Sunflower.
- 3D Bullet Hell Combat
Face off against the relentless but beautiful danmaku barrages of Touhou characters, translated to 3D. Pummel their sources with parasol and familiars, redirect bullets with well-timed parries, or fire off a few spellcards of your own to capture victory.
- Gardening-Based Character Growth System
Plant flowers anywhere and water them to strengthen Yuuka's attributes. As each season of a Dream passes, they may die; but perhaps this way, they can be raised again stronger...
- Delve Into Dreams
Each world Yuuka explores arises from the slumber of a fellow Gensokyo inhabitant. As the barrier outside decays, these increasingly turn to memory and fantasy.
"All flowers wilt and die; it's up to the gardener to make sure they bloom first, don't you think?"
Current demo version is v0.2 and includes one area + 2 bosses.
This is a Touhou Project fanwork. There may be differences from the original games, including but not limited to: character depictions, tanks, and buses existing in Gensokyo.

Finally, I can make Yuuka proud by planting sunflowers in tiny enclosed spaces that will never see the sun. The game systems are much upgraded and expanded from the original version. The stat gardens are just lovely. However, with so much more going on the tutorials have not quite kept up. Understanding the limitations on Yuuka's hovering and how her main shot worked troubled me in particular. But with more dangerous enemies and better boss patterns, this is growing up to be a great game.
There may be a bug in Mac version that when trying to create a new game, selecting one of the empty files does not properly start the game as it does in Window.
I kind of miss some of that vibrant... N64-esque charm of the original, and the dialogue and easy way to retry the bosses without going through a gauntlet, and kind of sad that there isn't any secial dialogue for beating Doremy on Day 0, but I still love the game!
it was cool to play this at touhou fest, hope you'll develop it further!
